Our approach is to put doctors and healthcare professionals at the heart of decision making to ensure that the development of any strategy for delivering safe, high quality and affordable care in east Kent will be evidence-based and clinically led. Involving the people on the ground who treat local people every day is vital to transforming care for the people of east Kent.
So far a great many clinicians and other health and social care professionals have been involved in a range of conversations to look at how local services could be delivered in different ways, and bringing their energy and expertise to help us deliver great, safe and effective care today and tomorrow.
These conversations have spanned all areas affecting health and social care. This includes the ‘business’ elements such as finance, workforce and staffing issues, how best to make use of technology and buildings and estates, as well as key clinical areas, including:
- Long term conditions and frailty
- Maternity and children’s services
- Mental health
- Planned (elective) and specialist care
- Urgent and emergency care.
The outputs of these conversations are being used to inform the development of our future strategy.
